Belgium holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2024, from 1 January to 30 June. Here are the six priorities of the Belgian presidency for this semester
- Defending rule of law, democracy, and unity
- Strengthening our competitiveness
- Pursuing a green and just transition
- Reinforcing our social and health agenda
- Promoting a global Europe
- Protecting people and borders

The Belgian presidency programme sets out the priorities and main directions of the Belgian presidency of the Council of the EU. The Belgian term takes place from the 1st of January to the 30th of June 2024.
