Changeover to the euro

As 1 January 2022 marked the 20th anniversary of the historic changeover to euro bank notes and coins, various EU events and tributes are taking place to commemorate the event (#EUROAT20).

The Council Library has prepared a library guide consisting of a collection of books, articles, web pages and video footage recounting the 2002 currency transition. The film clips capture a nostalgic memory for many people – the image of Europeans clutching the brand new coins and bills for the first time.

Please note:

This Library Guide is not exhaustive; it provides a selection of resources made by the Council Library. All titles are hyperlinked to Eureka, the resource discovery service of the Council Library, where you can find additional materials on the subject.

The contents are the sole responsibility of their authors. Resources linked from this bibliography do not necessarily represent the positions, policies, or opinions of the Council of the European Union or the European Council.
