EUvsDisinfo is the flagship project of the European External Action Service’s East StratCom Task Force. It was established in 2015 to better forecast, address, and respond to the Russian Federation’s ongoing disinformation campaigns affecting the European Union, its Member States, and countries in the shared neighbourhood.
EUvsDisinfo’s core objective is to increase public awareness and understanding of the Kremlin’s disinformation operations, and to help citizens in Europe and beyond develop resistance to digital information and media manipulation

Using data analysis and media monitoring services in 15 languages, EUvsDisinfo identifies, compiles, and exposes disinformation cases originating in pro-Kremlin media that are spread across the EU and Eastern Partnership countries. As of 2019, our monitoring capabilities also uncover disinformation spread in the Western Balkans and the EU’s Southern neighbourhood. These cases (and their disproofs) are collected in the EUvsDisinfo database – the only searchable, open-source repository of its kind – which currently comprises over 12,000 samples of pro-Kremlin disinformation, collected since the project’s launch in May 2015.

The Central European Digital Media Observatory (CEDMO), as an independent non-partisan multidisciplinary hub, aims to identify, research and prioritise the most critical sources and causes of information disorders in Central Europe (mainly the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland). This international consortium was created to propose a set of short and longer-term actions, as well as recommendations to help civil society, public institutions and the private sector respond to the declining trust in key institutions and help society to resist the effect of increasing exposure to mis- and disinformation.

On the occasion of the first anniversary of the establishment of CEDMO and under the auspices of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU, an international conference, which assessed in what ways Europe Tackles Information Chaos, took place in Prague between 22-23 September 2022. The conference welcomed multidisciplinary experts and stakeholders such as academics, think-tanks, EU officials, journalists, but also technology and legislative actors.

On 7 February 2023 High Representative/Vice-President of the European Union Josep Borrell announced the creation of an Information Sharing and Analysis Centre at the EEAS Conference on Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference. The Centre will promote the sharing of information between all stakeholders about root causes, incidents and threats, and the sharing of experience, knowledge and analysis.

The European Fact-Checking Standards Network (EFCSN) Project is an effort to bring together Europe's fact-checking and open-source intelligence (OSINT) community to create a Code of Professional Integrity that will guide our efforts to combat misinformation.
